McIntyre votes with Pelosi to make “death tax” permanent
WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 Congressman Mike McIntyre voted to permanently extend the federal estate tax, which was scheduled to expire on Dec. 31. Frank Williams, Chairman of the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party, issued the following statement in response to McIntyre’s vote:
“Yesterday, Congressman Mike McIntyre voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to permanently extend the federal estate tax, also known as the ‘death tax’. The estate tax penalizes families, farmers and small business owners who work hard, save money and build something to pass on to their children and grandchildren. Because of this tax, the federal government lays claim to a large portion of their hard-earned assets when they pass away – even though they have already paid income taxes, property taxes and countless other taxes throughout the lifelong process of building their estate.

Column: Biggest Loser of ‘Reform’: Small Biz

- Employers would be forced to either provide government-specified health insurance or pay a penalty of up to 8 percent of their payroll;
- Even firms that now provide health benefits could suffer if their coverage does not meet the government’s definition of “acceptable”.
Now, consider these statistics from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB):

Donohue. “It is time to remind and educate all Americans that the free enterprise values of individual initiative, hard work, freedom of choice, and the free exchange of trade, capital, and ideas built this great country and can lead us back to prosperity.”
