The 2010 Primaries: Your Chance to Help Determine What the GOP Stands For

All too often, I hear from conservatives who are frustrated by the voting records of Republican officeholders. They often make statements like “the Republican Party doesn’t stand for anything.” Unfortunately, far too few of those conservatives vote in the Republican primaries that determine which candidates carry our party’s banner in the general election.
On May 4, conservatives have an opportunity to help determine what the Republican Party stands for by voting in our primary election. Primaries are an opportunity for Republicans to get to know the candidates who wish to carry the Republican banner in November, find out who they are and what they believe, and discern which of them will be the best general election candidates and ultimately the best officeholders.

Steve Moore: We have a mandate to defeat socialism
From the NC Coastal Conservative Conference: Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal came out of the gate swinging. One of his first statements was, “Isn’t it great that the New York Times may not exist in six months?” This statement drew one of the loudest cheers of the night.
Moore discussed the Tea Parties, saying “The politicians in Washington heard the Tea Parties like it was a sonic boom.” He added that, contrary to what liberals would have you believe, the Tea Parties represented a true cross-section of America.

Tim Phillips of AFP – Review of the Last 7-10 days in Washington
From the NC Coastal Conservative Conference: Tim Phillips, president of Americans for Prosperity, offered attendees a review of some of the things that have happened in Washington over the past seven to ten days.
According to Phillips:
- The House passed the “Obama-Pelosi budget outline.” According to Phillips, if that outline is ultimately enacted, Federal government spending will account for 27.7% of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This means that $1 of every $4 in the U.S. economy would be spent by the Federal government — not counting state and local governments.
